...and on and on! This week was a lot of down time at our school regarding the media center. This week was all about book fair. I hate that, at least at my school, the media center is the main go-to for what I had to find as a technology center. Yes, there is a lot to do but I want more to happen than actually does. I was able to help with the book fair and this would actually help me more in pursuit of my Media Specialist add-on, but there still was some time I had that I pulled students to work on stuff in the computer lab or push into classrooms to help teachers with a few technology things.
I have worked pretty hard on the PD I have to develop. Figured I would need to get the full thing done before starting on the online version but went ahead and was able to transfer a few things over. I was telling a couple of teachers at my school how I was going to another school to give a PD on creating quizzes using Google. They made me take a little time to show them what I was talking about. Before I knew it I had been with them for over an hour and they were really impressed with how easy it would be for them to work with Google Surveys. I am hoping they and a few others will be able to help me out by taking the online PD for me and giving me some good feedback.
One of the biggest issue I am having with this blog is taking photos. I know the syllabus says to take photos but I seriously do not think about it until after most things are done. Then I have to ask those who were involved to get back with me so I can visually document what just happened. Guess I should hire a photographer to go around with me and take some shots. ;)
I still have to plan a trip to Harlem High School for some time with them in their Media Center. I had children their so I know they have some pretty interesting things going on there...it is just trying to find the best time to go. The media specialist is still out on maternity leave but they have an IT person there running things for now. It took me several times to actually get in touch with this person but I have set a couple of tentative times to go for right now. So as for now I continue to add things to my portfolio and working out the kinks of the new assignments I have to add.
